Hi Jonny,

Guess what? We got your parcel today and a beetle had found it's way into the parcel all the way from Salamanca! We phoned the appropriate places and got advice as to whether it's O.K to just release it or not.
We were strongly adviced not to do so. So we ended up putting it in a box and sending it to an entomologist in Edinburgh.
Just a typical Lothlorien day eh?
Hope you are well. I am following your journey with great interest and excitement.

Greetings Ven

Hey Jonny
The message i sent you last week didn't work so i'll try again..... Hi, hope you are having a fab time, thought bout you in morocco sipping mint tea amidst the hussle and bussle. My car went away to ther great scrapyard in the sky today, and i got £45 for it, so as it only cost me £50 i'm only a fiver down! Felt sad though seeing it go. My festival was a muddy lake, but with fun bits!
Wonder where you are now?
Take care xxxxx

Hi folks, thanks for all the wonderful comments, Im good? just come from Maraketch and all the buzz of the medina and the souqs,my bike seat melted it was so hot, will post photos and journal next week sometime once Ive got the photos downloaded. Am now in essouira, on the coast, much cooler and a different vibe all together. sort of surfy but with an afican coo. Not really sure what to make of morocco on the whole, seems very poor and too close to europe to be easy with that, which kind of makes me feel like a dollar sign rather than a person, which is a shame really. about the festival Haze, but thats festivals eh, Louise, the camers a dream and Im getting the hang of my composition, peter, what you doing in england; thought you were a scotsman now, Veni nice to see we are still looking after the wildlife. Oh, Im going to be in wave magazine in august on an article on ethical travel. love peace and light to all, heading off east now Jonny
By: Blogger Jonny
Hello all, many blessings to you all. Im good and have now ridden 2500 miles. Seems you did ok on the car Haze, sorry about the festival. Louise the cameras a dream, peter what you doing in england thought you were a scotsman, mandy I will keep your advice in mind the world is very big, veni what type of beetle was it. Im in essouira now on the cost of morocco, after coming from maraketch madness, souqs qnd medinas, my bike seat has melted it was so hot there, so I need a new one, am looking for a sheêpskin as temporary replacement. Now just heading back up the west coast, then catching the ferry to Spain, up to Barcelona and from Barcelona to Rome and then over to Greece where Im gonna try to get my Indian Visa. Will update the journal next week sometime. been a rollercoaster ride here, a very poor country thats been hit hard chasing the euro and all its imaginary dreams. sometimes, most of the time execpt in rural areas I feel like a dollar sign than a person.hey ho it is as it is, Love and peace to all of you Jonny
By: Blogger Jonny
Hi Jonny, I hope the Greeks are going to be nice to you and that you will get your visa there!

On the beetle saga: it was a beetle belonging to the genus Blaps sp. (whatever that means). This group of beetles belongs to a larger family of beetles known as Darkling beetles. So there it is.

Many greetings

Veni

Hi Jonny,

I've just visited your website via an advert on the NAPAC website, as the thought of such an epic journey on motorbike definitely caught my interest!

I have a motorbike myself (R6) and have always wanted to travel.. although being female, not so large and on a sportsbike I guess has put me off so far!

Anyway, I just wanted to say I think what you're doing is fantastic.. it's amazing and worthwhile, but also I'm guessing pretty tough too. So best of luck with the journey and hope the bike and the weather holds out for you.

Hi folks, Will update the site when I get sorted in Ios Greece. Im off to do a bit of kitesurfing there for a few weeks so will have a bit of time on my hands to update. Am now in barcelona in the noisiest of backpacker bars, you know the type, the kind of thing we all loved when we wernt 37 years old. after travelling 530 miles from granada to barcelona, will update more on the journal, but lets just say I'll be buying an special inflatable airhawk saddle A la Ewan Mcgreggor, as i was in ASS HELL! 11 hours of riding, my bike seat and my pure virgin rear dont mix, as I said ASS HELL, move this way no better, that way worse, stand up, do pelvic exercises, tried everything! But hey ho Im here and getting the ferry to Rome tomorrow and then Greece on the 3rd. Hope youre all good and well much love and peace to you all, may my but recover to tell more tales. Jonny

Hi Jonny
So far you have raised £565 in sponsorship money for Lothlorien, so we are well on the way to covering the cost of rebuilding the woodshed. best wishes, Brendan

On Monday I got stuck in a traffic jam East of Dumfries. Fortunately the bus had air conditioning, 'coz it was the hottest day we've had this year. I later learned that a motorcyclist had Died In A Nasty Accident.

So we don't want you to Die In A Nasty Accident - it causes big delays for other road users. Besides, some of us might like to see you again.

Hi Jonny..just catching up with and your epic adventure..really good reading, and moving. I was in Athens and the islands in the eighties and had a fab time busking around the Acropolis with my mandolin playing Zorba..!! So your pics of the place bring it all back again. I went in August and took a donkey jacket with me too...what! And sleeping on deck, feeling the swell, the stars and the warm breeze....
Your sounding a wee bit dis-illusioned with the trip and I can hear the effects of modern tourism dripping from your words, a sad reality in this changing world.Hopefully a recharge in Switzerland will soon find you looking to the east again.
Keep well.
love and peas

Hi everyone, this is just a short note to say I made it almost to the Iranian border, then I heard the news of the declining situation in Pakistan, with the bombing of the Marriott hotel and the collapse of the government and such. With that in mind Ive decided that I feel too uncomfortable to travel across Pakistan so Im heading home. Flying my bike and myself to India is financially not an option either. So, Im currently in Switzerland and will be back in the UK soon I hope. If anyone has any ideas where I could stay for a couple of months please email me as my house is rented out till the 6th of december and Im a bit stuck till then. Many blessings. Jonny
By: Blogger Jonny
Good luck Jonny---I'll be thinking about you Mum

Hi everyone. Just to let you know Ive left my bike in the Uk and travelled to India, unfortunately by plane, but no other real viable option and Im planning on continuing my journey by hiring or purchasing bikes as I go along. We'll see how things progress. Feels strange to be without my bike but thats how things are for now. Am in Dharamsala just now and hoping to travel across to Nepal if its not too cold..we'll see. many blessings. J
By: Blogger Jonny
Just to let you know I now have a rattly bag of spanners Enfield 500 motorcyle and will hopefully be setting off by the end of next week once all the formalities are set. Will post some pics in the journal. Blessings. Jonny
